London, UK, 15 November 2010 — Australian consumer electronics manufacturer, Kogan, today began selling LED TVs and GPS devices in the UK vowing to end “rip-off” prices and give shoppers a fair deal.

Kogan has sold more than 100,000 award-winning products to Australian consumers in the past five years and is now offering the same value to the British market with HD LED TVs on sale for as little as £129, and on average 20-50% better value than the competition. Ruslan Kogan, the 27-year-old founder and CEO of Kogan, said the availability of Kogan products to UK customers will turn the consumer electronics industry in this country on its head. He believes UK consumers are currently paying millions of pounds over the odds.

He commented: “UK consumers have been paying rip-off prices for everyday electronic goods and that should not be happening. We are here to shake up the market and transform the face of consumer electronics so customers get a fair deal.

“UK High Street retailers all have a web presence, which is commendable. But why are they charging the same prices online as in store? Is it fair that an online customer should be helping pay for the rent, overheads and other inefficiencies associated with selling through a shop? Selling online is all about efficiency that benefits the customer – the current situation has to change. Kogan is built on the belief that ‘there is always a better way’.

“In Australia, Kogan LCD and LED TVs, gadgets and home appliances have become extremely popular with savvy shoppers who shop online and look for best-value technology.

“We are the manufacturer selling direct to our customers and cutting out all the middlemen. Traditionally, it has not been possible for manufacturers to communicate directly with consumers. The Internet has made this possible.”

“As such, Kogan has quickly become one of Australia’s fastest-growing companies. In the same way that Sir Richard Branson comes to Australia to innovate in flailing industries, Kogan is going to breathe new life into the UK electronics retail industry and give people what they want – quality products at fantastic prices.

“We’re kicking off our entry into the UK with a range of LED TVs and GPS devices, with the range expanding in coming months. Not only are Kogan TVs the best value on the market, but they also have the latest technology that big brand names take far too long to include in their products. Kogan Elite LED TVs, for example, have a PVR and USB input allowing you to pause, rewind and record live TV, as well as play downloaded photos, music and movies.”

Kogan offers the latest technology direct to customers through an open, transparent, online business model, with shoppers able to post independent reviews alongside each product.
